Back to Basics Organics Since 1987, Back to Basics Organics has served the community of Starke County by providing supplements, power foods, clean coffee and teas plus safe body care. Now the boutique side also includes: hemp apparel, healing crystals, essential oils, and DIY supplies for making clean products. Other than Five Star, they are the oldest store located in the Knox Mal. "We've gone through many phases," states Owner Juanita Ketcham. Juanita owns and operates the store with her husband Ron. In the beginning, supplements were uncommon in Knox and so Back to Basics invited hand made consignment sales. In the past, the store would even raise grass fed cows to sell. In the last couple of years, the store has added CBD oil, hemp products, healing crystals, and other products. One thing has never changed though, and that's Back to Basics core product supplemental vitamins and herbals. "We've always done the supplements. We've never wavered from that," Juanita says. She further explains that supplements are important because "people aren't eating as well as they used to. And it takes ten times the nutrients to feed the body for the body to have energy to heal as it does to maintain a body. RD FL SPECTRUM ENTRACT When you walk into Back to Basics, one of the first things you'll notice are the colorful decorated tables. Upon further inspection, you'l notice that each table is matched with a particular part of the body's healing abilities. Healing stones on the tables are stones that customers can wear to help aid in the body's energy. "If they're going to be working with something where they really need to vocalize, they would pick something off the blue table because that's this part of the body, Juanita said as she touched her throat. "If they needed to be really grounded, they're air heads, they'd pick something off the red table. While the healing stones are fun to learm, Juanita professes that she is still leaming their applications. The same cannot be said for herbs and supplements. She's spent 35 years leaming about herbs. Juanita also has over 40 certifications in herbalism, body and mind healing, biological terrain assessment, aromatherapy, as well as many others. She travels across the country and even to other country to study under tradional herbalists. Hemp products include hats, seeds, oil, CBD, wallets, soap, cordage, and even shirts. Hemp is also microbial. So for people who sweat and stink a lot, when they wear the hemp t-shirts it cuts that down dramatically, said Juanita. "Hemp is pretty amazing. When asked what the most popular item is in the store, Juanita said it was the CBD oils. Before that it was the multi-vitamins. "Everybody should be taking a multi-vitamin because our ground is depleted. When our farmers farm now, they only put three nutrients back. There's 72 in the ground, she said.
