Congregate meals are served to seniors over the age of 60 at two locations in Starke County: 311 E Culver Road, Knox and 105 E Talmer Avenue, North Judson. Meals should be reserved 3 weeks prior by calling 574-772-7070 (Knox site) or 574-896-3665 (North Judson site). A $3.00 donation per meal is requested. Social, recreational, and educational sessions are also scheduled. Homemaker services are provided to seniors that have a care plan provided by the Area Agency on Aging. Call 800- 826-7871 to enroll. Private-pay homemaker services are also available by calling 574-772-7070. Public Transportation for Starke County residents; minimal fare donation requested. Medicaid provider. Vehicles are accessible to those with disabilities. Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for residents of Starke County. Income guidelines apply. Energy Assistance Programs include the federally funded energy assistance program which awards a one-time benefit to the heat or electric vendor for households that meet income guidelines, and other utility assistance funded by other sources. Other services include call-a-day, Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP), health equipment loan program, and referrals to the Weatherization Program.
