Keeping Your Life in Motion Richard Allied Bone and Toint WEEKEND WARRIORS It's that time of year when temperatures have risen and the weekend warriors have come out of hibernation These are the folks who work hard all week and play hard on the weekends. Unfortunately these warriors think they're still in high school and can do these outside activities just as easily now as then. Aside from the obwious drooping here and bulging there, our bodies so much with time, even at the microscopic level. Our tendons and ligaments get stiffer and tighter; and depending on what kind of work activities we do (or don't do), our muscles have probably weakened as well. Father Time catches up to all of us, and getting older, while not for everyone, is not the end of being active. However stretching and warming up the muscles before exerting yourself is important to avoid injury. If your goal is running a marathon or pressing 300#, ease into it. Give your musdles a chance to adapt, and rest a day or two betweon workouts. Put your ego aside and be smart about your activity. Just because your buddy can shoot hoops all day, or drive a golf ball 300 yards doesn't mean you can or should without working up to it. Be smart. Know your limits. Be active.
