KNOX CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT is currently accepting applications for the Reserve Officer program The Reserve Officer program is a voluntary (Not Paid) community service program in which citizens of the community work with and assist Knox City Police Department. Applications may be picked up at the Knox City Hall, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or for an email copy contact Chief Harold Smith at hsmith@cityofknox.net. Applications can be dropped off at Knox City Hall or mailed to Knox City Police, 101 W. Washington St., Knox, Indiana 46534 If you are selected, the job requires an investment of some equipment purchases and completion of police training. The investment ranges from $500.00 to $800.00. All applications will be reviewed and applicants will undergo a background investigation. Only applicants meeting the requirements of character and competence of the department will be selected. All applicants are subject to local record check, driving record, financial record, fingerprint and state record check. Specific requirements for Reserve Officer: Must be a citizen of the United States Must be at least 21 years of age with demonstrated maturity and judgement Must hold an Indiana Firearms permit Hold a valid Indiana Driver's License. High school or GED certificate required. Must possess good reputation, criminal, financial and traffic records. Never been convicted for Domestic Battery or Felony Charge. No illegal use of any type of drugs two (2) years prior to applying A dishonorable discharge from the military service shall disqualify the applicant. Applicants must be able to successfully complete a physical agility test.
