CITYO KNOX JOB OPENING CITY OF KNOX - WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT Position Available: Laborer - Full-Time/ Benefits Salary Range (Hrly): $14.24 - $19.78 (Based on Experience) A Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma/GED are required A great opportunity to begin your career with the City of Knox! Applicant must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision. Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally with customers and other City Staff. Must be willing to attend classes for training and advancement in order to achieve a Class 2 Wastewater Treatment License. Capable of operating the Vac/Jet equipment on a day-to-day basis and be on call during off hours (365 days a year) in case of a WWTP facility or collection system emergency. Weekend duties rotate and employee is required to be on-call that same week (for emergency or non-emergency). Maintain the vehicles and equipment at the treatment facility and throughout the collection system and is responsible for requesting and scheduling service or repair parts upon approval from the Wastewater Superintendent when necessary. Perform his/her duties diligently to assist in maintaining compliance with the City's NPDES permit. Must attend OSHA training for confined space entry, trenching and shoring and is responsible for proper procedures and use of safety equipment while performing day-to-day assignments. Responsible for monitoring excavation and work sites, keeping proper barricades and signage in place at all times to ensure safety. Must be able to operate construction equipment, power tools and hand tools such as but not limited to dump trucks, back-hoes, tampers, tap machines, pavement saws. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. Hepatitis shots are required and provided by the City of Knox. Maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License and obtain an Indiana Class B CDL w/air Brake endorsement within 90 days of employment.
